Start making plans for National Nursing Home Week 2015. It will be held May 10-16, 2015. We’ll announce the 2015 theme on this website as soon as it is released by the American Health Care Association.

- Residents of Lafayette Nursing Home celebrated National Nursing Home Week by going a “cruise” with stops on Fantasy Island, Jimmy Buffett Island and Hawaii. The Captain’s Ball was held while the ship was out to sea. Residents enjoyed fun games, good food and entertainment from Elvis Presley. - Hanceville Nursing and Rehab Center Administrator Michael Vickers got a cool surprise at the end of National Nursing Home Week. Residents and employees cheered as he was doused with green slush. Residents took part in special activities, themed games and costume contests all week long.
- Colonial Haven Care & Rehab Center in Greensboro began the week with a ribbon cutting ceremony by Hale County Probate Judge Arthur Crawford and a balloon lift off by residents and staff. Other events during the week included a Hawaiian themed party, ice cream social and a resident talent show.
- The National Nursing Home Week theme of “Living the Aloha Spirit” was alive and well at Capitol Hill Healthcare and Rehab First in Montgomery. The facility ended National Nursing Home Week with a “Picture Me in Hawaii” social. Banana splits with all the trimmings were on the menu and the residents enjoyed having their pictures taken with luau props. - Andalusia Manor’s Womanless Beauty Pageant has become an annual tradition during National Nursing Home Week. Male employees dress up in their finest ball gowns and strut their stuff to the delight of residents and their co-workers. Prizes were awarded for best dancer, most photogenic, prettiest eyes, sexiest legs and sexiest walk.
