We’re wrapping up National Nursing Home Week with a look at the diverse ways residents, employees and volunteers celebrated the “Bring on the Fiesta!” theme.

Much of Cottage of the Shoals’ National Nursing Home Week celebration centered on food – for eating and fun activities.

For example, the Taco Battle featured wooden spoons with a hard shell taco attached to the end. Residents and staff tried to break their opponent’s taco shell before their shell was broken. That event was followed by a meal of fajitas, nachos and cheese and margaritas.

A Salsa dancing demonstration ended with a chips and salsa snack. The Bean Races, residents and staff transferring beans from the table to a cup, were followed by sweet treats from a piñata.

“What a fun week,” Cottage of the Shoals Activity Director Wendell Greenleaf said. “We have truly brought the Fiesta to Cottage of the Shoals, and look forward to celebrating again next year.”
