Ms. Woodland Village Health Care Center, Cloie Kelley, Cullman, Age 79
You never know what life will bring your way.
Cloie Kelley never imagined she would live in a nursing home.
“Life may not be exactly what we had envisioned for ourselves, but no one knows how their life is going to turn out,” Cloie said.
Cloie also never imagined that she would be in a local pageant, win it and have the opportunity to compete in the prestigious Ms. Alabama Nursing Home Pageant. That surprise came her way after she moved to Woodland Village Rehab & Health Care Center in Cullman, Alabama.
“I look at my life and my future like just the beginning of a whole new part of life that God has planned for me,” Cloie said. “I’m going to have a good time enjoying every minute of it.”
She is enjoying her time at Woodland Village – making new friends every day, working with therapists to improve her health and feeling more safe and content than she has in a long time. Cloie joins other residents for frequent shopping trips, tends the garden and has learned to play bocce ball.
“Everyone at Woodland Village thinks Ms. Kelley is a wonderful and special lady,” Woodland Village Administrator Mandy Shaddix said. “We’re proud of her selection as a top 10 finalist and are excited to watch her compete.”
Cloie will write a new chapter in her life on July 28 when she competes in the Ms. Alabama Nursing Home Pageant. The pageant will be held at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham – The Wynfrey Hotel at 2:00 p.m.
