Our office receives a lot of Christmas cards. Some make us laugh while others cause us to stop and think. We receive cards from our member nursing homes, vendors, politicians, you name it.

This year, one particular card caught our eye and pulled on our heart strings.

The card features a watercolor painting of a Partridge in a Pear Tree. Luverne Health & Rehab sent it to us. The card is special to the Alabama Nursing Home Association staff because the artwork was created by nursing home resident Ruthie Johnson. You can read the back of the card (pictured below) to learn more about Ruthie.

This Christmas card reminds us that Alabama nursing home residents have many talents. During 2014, this website featured numerous stories of nursing home residents using their gifts and abilities to make a positive impact in their community and around the world. We hope society never loses sight of the fact that nursing home residents are a valuable part of the community.
