Seven Alabama nursing home employees are among 32 college students receiving nursing school scholarships from the Alabama Nursing Home Association (ANHA) Education Foundation.

The students are enrolled in Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) programs at 16 Alabama community colleges and will receive scholarships for the 2016 spring semester.

The students currently employed by a nursing home work at the following centers:

The scholarships are $500.00 per student per semester and are offered for the spring, summer and fall semesters at community colleges that are part of the Alabama Community College System. Each college may select two students to receive the scholarship each semester.

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must complete the first semester of the LPN program, maintain a 2.5 GPA, be a resident of Alabama and take part in clinical training in a nursing home.

The ANHA Education Foundation established the LPN scholarship program in July 2008. Since its inception, more than 600 scholarships have been awarded to deserving students.
