The Alabama Nursing Home Association (ANHA) recently concluded its Nursing Home Infection Prevention Program, NIPP(C) – Nipping Infections in the Bud, bringing together infection prevention professionals, administrators, and key staff from across the state for in-depth education and hands-on learning.
This comprehensive program, presented in a hybrid format of virtual and in-person sessions, met CMS guidelines for training Infection Control Preventionists and offered a Certificate of Training for Infection Prevention in Long-Term Care upon successful completion of required sessions and testing.
Participants completed four virtual sessions covering:
-
Infection Prevention Program Regulatory Overview
-
Cleaning & Disinfection and CABSI Prevention
-
Employee & Occupational Health
-
Water Management Plans
The series culminated with two in-person sessions held at the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel & Spa, where attendees engaged in deeper discussion, practical application, and collaborative learning focused on advancing infection control standards in their facilities. The program provided a total of 20.4 CEUs for nurses and 17 CEUs for administrators reinforcing best practices, strengthening compliance efforts, and equipping facilities with tools to protect residents and staff.
A.C. Burke, VP of Healthcare Quality at RB Health Partners, Inc., served as the featured speaker. With 27 years of healthcare experience — including 16 years in Infection Prevention and Control — Burke shared valuable expertise drawn from her work consulting with long-term care facilities nationwide. Her practical insights and real-world examples helped participants connect regulatory requirements with actionable strategies.
ANHA extends sincere appreciation to Principal Financial Group for sponsoring this important educational opportunity.
