Description
Primary Purpose
Responsible for the coordination of the Resident Assessment Instrument
Demonstrates the knowledge to complete the RAI and above listed
responsibilities.
Facilitates communication between the Interdisciplinary Team.
DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY
As MDS Coordinator you are delegated the administrative authority,
responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

good standing.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
I. RAI preparation
A. Schedules completion of MDS following State and Federal
guidelines.
B. Inputs data into the MDS computer system.
C. Completes nursing portions of the MDS.
D. Supervises the completion of the MDS by the Interdisciplinary
Team.
E. Screens each Minimum Data Set (MDS) for accuracy before
finalizing, locking, and signing.
II. Education
A. Training of new personnel in MDS completion.
B. Education updates to current staff.
C. Evaluates own needs for personal and professional development to
maintain high level of competence and practice.
III. Care Planning
A. Coordinates and participates in Interdisciplinary Care Planning.
IV. Quality Assurance
A. Monitors RAI process.
B. Develops plans for improvement of RAI process as needed.
C. Maintains clinical competency in order to provide direct care as
needed.
D. Conducts self in a professional manner utilizing critical thinking in
the resolution of problems.
E. Performs other duties incidental to the position and as delegated by
the MDS Supervisor.
