Jennifer AgeeAn Alabama Nursing Home Association volunteer has been selected to participate in a prestigious national leadership development program.

The American Health Care Association (AHCA) has chosen Jennifer Estes Agee as a future leader in long term and post-acute care.

Agee will join AHCA’s Future Leaders program that offers training and guidance for long term and post-acute care professionals.

“It is an honor to be selected as a Future Leader by AHCA,” Agee said. “I plan to use the knowledge gained from this program to become a stronger advocate for the long term care profession in Alabama and across the country.”

The life-long Tuscaloosa resident is a licensed nursing home administrator and serves on the Alabama Nursing Home Association’s Board of Directors. She is the Corporate Projects and Community Outreach Director for Tuscaloosa-based NHS Management, LLC.

Part of the fourth generation of her family to work in long term care, Agee’s first job was as an Activity Assistant at Glen Haven Health & Rehab in Tuscaloosa when she was 16 years old.

During her career, Agee has served as administrator of three Alabama nursing homes:

She earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Health Care Management from The University of Alabama.

“Jennifer demonstrates a willingness to share successes with others and help where help is needed,” ANHA Executive Director Bill O’Connor said. “We are proud of her selection as a long term care leader and know the experience she gains in this program will benefit nursing homes across Alabama.”

Agee is one of 35 people from across the nation selected for the program. Participants demonstrate leadership potential and represent the interests of both state and national long term care providers. The program covers the latest theories and practical applications in quality management, customer satisfaction, and leadership. The program began in 2004.

Earlier in June, Agee participated in AHCA’s “Future Leaders of Long Term Care in America” symposium in Washington, D.C., to kick-off the year-long program.
