People in the Birmingham area were able to check up on their health…and check out a wide range of services during a health fair at a local nursing home.
Hanover Health & Rehab recently hosted its first ever health fair. People in the community were able to learn about the services the facility offers and meet with representatives from companies that specialize in care for senior citizens.
“This event helps senior citizens understand what services are available to them as they age and need assistance,” Hanover Administrator Susan Potts said. “We’re educating people in our community now so they can make wise choices in the future.”
Health fair attendees were offered free blood sugar and blood pressure tests. A local elder law attorney presented a seminar on legal topics of importance to senior citizens. The Jefferson County long term care ombudsman provided information related on health care facilities and answered questions from the attendees.
