For nearly two decades, Patricia Bradberry has called Shelby Ridge in Alabaster home—and along the way, she has made it her mission to make others feel at home, too.
A resident since 2007, Patricia is affectionately known as the facility’s “Ambassador.” From her desk near the entrance, she welcomes residents, families and visitors with a smile, a hug and often a little something extra—handwritten poems, spiritual messages, candy or one of her homemade cross bookmarks.
Her contributions extend throughout the Shelby Ridge community. Patricia writes uplifting messages for staff, makes gifts for new residents, tends the flower boxes on the Patti Wallace Patio and enthusiastically participates in activities. A three-time winner of the Ms. Shelby Ridge pageant, she’s also a regular at tailgating events, where she can be found dressed in crimson and cheering, “Roll Tide!”
Most recently, Patricia added published author to her accomplishments. Her book, Happy Memories of a Country Girl, written under the name Trichia Bradberry, shares stories from her life, favorite scripture and memories of the close friendships she has cherished at Shelby Ridge.
Whether she’s writing, gardening, helping with a bake sale, heading out on an excursion or even playing a little golf, Patricia continues to bring joy to those around her.
At Shelby Ridge, Patricia isn’t simply a resident—she’s part of what makes the community feel like family.
