At Merry Wood Lodge Center in Elmore, dedication to long term care isn’t measured simply in years—it’s reflected in the residents, families, and coworkers whose lives have been touched along the way.
Together, Delores Smoke and Billy Mitchell have devoted an extraordinary 84 years of service to Merry Wood Lodge, becoming familiar and trusted members of the facility community.
Delores has served Merry Wood Lodge for 44 years, lending her talents wherever they have been needed. Throughout her career, she has worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant and supported Central Supply, medical records, payroll, accounts receivable and payable, and other departments. She has even stepped in to assist Housekeeping and Dietary when needed. Today, she continues to serve through Medical Records and Central Supply.
Billy has spent 40 years at Merry Wood Lodge as a Floor Technician Specialist, helping ensure residents have a clean, safe, and welcoming place to call home. Known for his positive attitude, dependability, and willingness to lend a hand, Billy demonstrates the important role every member of a long term care team plays in supporting residents and quality care.
Their combined 84 years represent far more than longevity. They reflect decades of showing up, adapting, serving others, and contributing to a community that generations of residents and families have called home.
Merry Wood Lodge is proud to celebrate Delores and Billy and the lasting impact their dedication, professionalism, and compassion continue to have on residents, families, and fellow staff members.
We’re grateful to the facilities who have already shared their stories — keep them coming!
