When Shirley Sandlin arrived at River City Center, weakness had taken away much of her independence. Following a hospitalization for multiple falls and treatment related to debility, acute kidney injury and dehydration, she was unable to sit on the side of her bed without assistance.
But with care, therapy and determination, Shirley began making progress.
Through physical, occupational and speech therapy, Shirley worked to regain her strength and abilities. Over the course of her stay, she made tremendous improvements in all areas—progress that ultimately allowed her to discharge to an assisted living community.
Her recovery was a significant turnaround from where she began.
“I couldn’t even stand up when I got here, and now I’m doing fine,” Shirley said.
Shirley expressed her gratitude for the care she received during her time at River City Center. Her journey is a powerful example of the difference skilled nursing care and rehabilitation can make in helping individuals regain strength, rebuild confidence and move forward to the next chapter of their lives.
We’re grateful to the facilities who have already shared their stories — keep them coming!
