75 Stories of Care: Submission #38

One of the greatest gifts long term care professionals can give is helping others see beyond a person’s age or diagnosis—and remembering the life they have lived.

That’s the message behind Florence Rehabilitation and Wellness Center’s simple yet powerful video reminding viewers that every resident has a lifetime of experiences, accomplishments, and relationships that continue to shape who they are today.

Throughout the video, viewers see residents’ hands accompanied by words that reflect their identities and life journeys. They have been medical assistants, teachers, lobbyists, housewives, and housekeepers. Today, they are nonnies, mothers, sisters, grandmothers, dancers, friends, and great grandmothers.

As the facility shared in its social media post:

“The world may see age, but we see stories.”

The video serves as a meaningful reminder that growing older does not change who a person is. Instead, every chapter adds to the story they continue to write.

At ANHA, we believe long term care is about more than providing quality clinical care. It is about honoring each resident’s unique history, preserving their dignity, and celebrating the lives that have shaped our communities.
