When Bruce Terry and his wife began preparing for their oldest son’s wedding, they hoped he would be able to participate in the celebration. What they did not expect was a moment that would leave an entire room in tears.

According to Bruce’s wife, the wedding became extraordinary when Bruce stood and danced with her during the reception. It was the first time in nearly three years that he had stood and moved without the assistance of a cane or walker.

“There was not a dry eye in the room,” she wrote. “He twirled me three times, each to cheers and applause.”

That moment was made possible through months of encouragement and hard work from the Green Home’s therapy team. Therapists worked diligently with Bruce to help him achieve his goal of walking down the aisle with his sons by his side. Along the way, they encouraged him to push beyond his doubts and build the confidence needed to take the next step—literally and figuratively.

The accomplishment was about more than physical rehabilitation. It was also a testament to perseverance, confidence, and the power of believing in what is possible.

Bruce’s wife also praised the entire Green Home team, noting that everyone—from therapists and nursing staff to CNAs, office staff, and dietary employees—followed his progress and offered encouragement throughout his journey.

“It was truly a family affair,” she wrote. “They reveled in his success just as we did.”

For Bruce and his family, the opportunity to walk down the aisle and share a dance at their son’s wedding became a memory they will cherish forever—a reminder of the extraordinary difference long term care professionals make in the lives of those they serve.
