For the team at Southland, connection is more than a theme or philosophy—it is the foundation of daily life within the facility. Staff members strive to create an environment where residents, families, and employees feel valued, supported, and at home. Their approach to care extends beyond meeting physical needs and focuses on building meaningful relationships that enrich the lives of everyone who walks through the doors.
Inspired by the National Nursing Home Week theme of “Connection,” Southland invited staff members to reflect on what the word means to them. Their responses highlighted the trust, compassion, and genuine relationships that develop between caregivers and residents over time. These connections are often formed through everyday moments—listening to a story, sharing a laugh, offering encouragement, or simply being present.
