Opp Health and Rehabilitation shared the following story as part of ANHA’s 75 Stories of Care initiative.
For more than 36 years, Amanda Lacey has been a dedicated and trusted presence at Opp Health and Rehabilitation, exemplifying the commitment, compassion, and expertise that define long term care in Alabama.
Amanda began her career at the facility in 1989 as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Through hard work, determination, and a desire to grow, she steadily advanced through a variety of roles—including Restorative CNA, supply clerk, medical records, and financial specialist assistant in payroll.
Today, she serves as the facility’s Financial Specialist, a role she has held for the past 13 years.
In this position, Amanda is widely known and trusted for her knowledge of the Medicaid application process and her ability to guide residents, families, and staff through complex financial matters with clarity and care. Her experience and willingness to help have made her an invaluable resource within the facility.
Amanda’s journey reflects not only professional growth, but a deep and lasting commitment to the people she serves. Whether assisting families, supporting staff, or ensuring residents’ needs are met, she approaches her work with kindness and dedication each day.
Her story is a powerful reminder that long term care is built on the strength of individuals who choose to serve—and continue to make a difference year after year.
