As ANHA’s Careers in Aging Month series continues, we recognize Nicholas Adams, a housekeeping team member at Florala Health and Rehabilitation.

Nicholas has dedicated nearly 20 years to long term care, spending his entire career at Florala. Through his work, he plays an important role in creating a clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment for residents each day.

For Nicholas, the impact of his work is felt in the everyday moments.

“When I clean a resident’s room and they tell me ‘thank you’ and that they appreciate it, it reminds me that my work matters,” he shared. “I clean their rooms like I would for my own family.”

That sense of care and responsibility shapes how he approaches his role. By maintaining a safe and comfortable space, Nicholas helps support residents’ quality of life in ways that may seem small but are deeply meaningful.

One of the most rewarding parts of his work is the relationships he has built over the years. Through daily interactions, he has formed connections with residents that feel more like family than simply coworkers or residents.

“I enjoy being able to interact with the residents and build friendly relationships that help make their day brighter,” he said.

His supervisor describes Nicholas as dependable, positive, and always willing to help wherever needed. They also note the impact he has on residents, sharing that many look for him each morning because he takes the time to talk with them and get to know them personally.

Thank you, Nicholas, for the difference you make every day!
