  • 1969 – Alabama Board of Examiners of Nursing Home Administrators established by state statute. The first licenses were issued in 1970.
  • 2,332 people have earned an Alabama nursing home administrator license.
  • Approximately 500 people are currently licensed as nursing home administrators in Alabama.
  • 24 hours of continuing education is required annually to maintain an Alabama nursing home administrator license.
  • 59 Alabama nursing home administrators are certified preceptors to mentor Administrators-in-Training who are pursuing a license.
  • Up to 2,000 hours – length of the Administrator-in-Training program depending on the applicant’s educational background.
  • 7 board members for the Alabama Board of Examiners of Nursing Home Administrators. All are appointed by the Governor of Alabama.
