The ANHA is excited to begin in-person meetings and educational seminars! Please mark your calendars for August 12, 2021, for the “OSHA ETS and Life Safety Code Basics” seminar. This program will be held at the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel and Spa located in Montgomery, Alabama.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) released Emergency Temporary Standards (ETS) to address exposure to COVID-19 to workers in health care settings. These standards apply to skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, and Intermediate Care Facilities for the Developmentally Disabled (ID/DD).

- Reporting of COVID-19 Fatalities and Hospitalizations
In order to meet federal Medicare/Medicaid certification requirements, healthcare facilities must be in compliance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard 101, Life Safety Code®, 2012 Edition. The life safety code is applied under the authority of the Social Security Act and Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). Skilled nursing facilities (SNF) and nursing facilities (NF) must both meet 42 Code of Federal Regulation 483.90(a).
We will hear from state regulators as they review and discuss Life Safety Code basics and common deficient practices.
