Alabama nursing homes care for many people diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Staff are specially trained to care for these individuals while helping family members cope with the changes their loved one is experiencing.

A longing to do more to help these individuals is why Crowne Health Care & Rehab of Montgomery held the “Rope of Hope Day.” It was an event to celebrate several fundraisers the nursing home held to raise money to support the Montgomery Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

Over the course of several weeks, staff members sold raffle tickets for quilt made by Crowne of Montgomery employee Anita Graves, held a bake sale at the center’s Halloween Party and received donations from visitors.

The finale was a tug-of-war contest on “Rope of Hope Day.” Members of the two teams were from Crowne of Montgomery, Pike Road CrossFit, Amedysis Hospice, Capital City Church of the Nazarene and baseball players and coaches from Alabama State University. Crowne employees James Brown and Bruce MacPherson served as team captains.

The teams dug in their heels and pulled with all their might until Bruce’s team pulled James’ team across the line. James’ team, on the other hand, won the fundraising battle leading organizers to declare a tie.
