How old is too old to believe in Santa Claus?
Eight years old? Eleven years old? Thirteen years old?
How about 102 years old?
That’s the age of the oldest person at a nursing home where everyone was excited to see jolly old Saint Nick.
Dadeville Healthcare Center’s annual Resident Christmas Party is never complete without a visit from Santa Claus. He brings a bag filled with gifts for every resident.
“The residents are very excited about it,” Dadeville Healthcare Center Social Services Director Katie Morgan said. “They are like little kids again and want to have their picture taken with Santa. Some of the residents told us stories of when they were young and waiting for Santa.”
During his visit, Santa spoke to every resident in the nursing home. The oldest was 102 year old Janie Robinson. After speaking with Santa, the residents listened to holiday music and enjoyed Christmas cookies and punch.
“Our Activity Director Edith Nelms and Activity Assistant Michelle Reed organize the event and make sure all of the residents have a Christmas gift,” Morgan said. “They do an amazing job making sure our residents are entertained and always have smiles on their faces.”
This annual event is one of the holiday season highlights at Dadeville Healthcare Center. Earlier this month, over 200 people attended the Family Christmas Dinner Night.
P.S. Because of Santa’s busy schedule this time of year, he asked Dadeville Healthcare Center Admissions Coordinator Ryan Murray to fill-in for him.
