Sometimes a few kind words can make a big difference.
Diversicare of Foley recently found a creative way to recognize the employees who make their community a great place to work through a staff appreciation initiative called “Culture in Bloom.”
Blank recognition cards were distributed throughout the building, giving team members an opportunity to recognize a coworker and share what makes that individual special. Employees who received a card written in their honor were also given a button proudly declaring, “I make this a great place to work!”
The completed cards were displayed together on a large bulletin board, creating a colorful collection of appreciation for team members throughout the facility. Staff enjoyed finding their cards and reading the thoughtful messages their coworkers had written about them.
The initiative quickly became more than a staff recognition activity. Residents also enjoyed seeing the display and sharing in the excitement as employees were celebrated for the contributions they make each day.
“Culture in Bloom” provided a simple but meaningful reminder that a positive workplace culture grows when people take the time to recognize and encourage one another.
