Sometimes, the simplest twist on a favorite tradition can create some of the best memories.
Each year, residents and staff at Traylor Health & Rehab look forward to a friendly ball game that has become an annual favorite during National Skilled Nursing Care Week . The event gives residents a chance to enjoy a little competition with staff while bringing everyone together for plenty of fun and laughter.
This year, the team wanted to add something new to the tradition. After initially considering a color run for residents, they decided instead to bring the color directly to the ball game—and the idea was a hit.
Throughout the game, residents enthusiastically covered staff members in bright bursts of color—and weren’t afraid to get a little colorful themselves. What started as a simple addition quickly transformed the annual event into an especially memorable experience for everyone involved.
The colorful competition brought smiles, laughter and plenty of opportunities for residents and staff to simply have fun together.
For the team at Traylor Health & Rehab, the experience was also a reminder that meaningful moments don’t always require elaborate plans. Sometimes, adding a little creativity to an activity residents already love is all it takes to turn a good day into an unforgettable one.
The annual ball game may have been a longtime favorite, but this year’s colorful edition gave residents and staff a whole new set of memories—and perhaps a new tradition to look forward to next year.
We’re grateful to the facilities who have already shared their stories — keep them coming!
