What happens when residents want to learn about one of the world’s biggest pop stars? At John Knox Manor, it turned into an unforgettable week of music, laughter, learning, and connection.
When residents began asking questions about “the TikTok” and wondered why everyone was talking about Taylor Swift, the activities team saw an opportunity to create something special. They launched a Taylor Swift Week, introducing residents to the singer’s music, career, philanthropy, and cultural impact.
The week culminated in a viewing of The Eras Tour alongside the facility’s Ombudsman, giving residents the chance to experience the excitement surrounding one of the most celebrated concert tours in history. But the fun didn’t stop there.
Residents also created their very own TikTok video—a first for many of them. They eagerly watched the views come in and even joked about how disappointed they were that they didn’t go viral. Before long, making TikTok reels became a favorite activity, proving that it’s never too late to embrace something new.
Perhaps the greatest surprise was the way the event brought generations together. Granddaughters and great-granddaughters eagerly visited to share their love of Taylor Swift, creating meaningful conversations and memories that bridged generations through music and technology. By the end of the week, several residents proudly declared themselves “Senior Swifties.”
We’re grateful to the facilities who have already shared their stories — keep them coming!
