The Alabama Nursing Home Association is proud to join providers across the state in celebrating National Skilled Nursing Care Week (NSNCW), May 10–16, 2026.
Recognized nationwide, Skilled Nursing Care Week honors the residents, families, and dedicated professionals who make long term care communities an essential part of Alabama’s healthcare system. Throughout the week, facilities across the state are hosting activities, events, and celebrations that highlight the compassion, connection, and quality care taking place every day.
Governor Kay Ivey has issued a proclamation designating the week in Alabama, honoring the important role skilled nursing providers play in delivering care, supporting families, and strengthening communities across the state. The proclamation recognizes both the individuals receiving care and the professionals who serve them each day.
This year’s National Skilled Nursing Care Week theme is “Moment in Bloom.” The observance is sponsored by the American Health Care Association since 1967 and is recognized each year beginning on Mother’s Day and continuing through the following Saturday. In Alabama, the week is sponsored by the Alabama Nursing Home Association.
“Skilled Nursing Care Week is an opportunity to recognize the people at the heart of long term care,” said Brandon Farmer, President & CEO of the Alabama Nursing Home Association. “Across Alabama, caregivers and staff are making a meaningful difference every day—providing not only quality care, but compassion, dignity, and connection for residents and their families.”
