As part of National Careers in Aging Month, ANHA is proud to highlight dedicated professionals across Alabama who make a difference in long-term care every day. We begin this year’s series by recognizing Linda, a Restorative CNA at South Hampton Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Linda has been a Certified Nursing Assistant for 25 years and has served at South Hampton for 13 of those years. For the past two years, she has worked as a Restorative CNA, encouraging residents to maintain and strengthen their independence through supportive care and daily engagement.
Her administrator shared, “Linda never seeks recognition for her hard work and compassion, which is why she is all the more deserving.”
Linda originally entered long-term care because she wanted to make a difference in the lives of seniors. Over time, what she expected to be temporary work became a lasting calling. “I planned to do this for a while and then go to nursing school,” she said. “But I chose to keep being a CNA because I enjoy it so much.”
In her restorative role, Linda focuses on helping residents remain as independent as possible. Whether assisting with mobility, encouraging participation in activities, or simply offering a kind word, she understands that even small moments matter. “Hopefully I brighten up their days, even in the smallest way,” she said.
For Linda, a good day is simple: residents are happy and the team works together. “I love being part of a caring leadership team where I feel like I make a meaningful impact every day.”
After 25 years in the profession, Linda’s dedication speaks volumes. Her quiet commitment, willingness to step in wherever needed, and steady encouragement of resident independence embodies the heart of long-term care.
