Twenty-three students at Alabama community colleges will continue to pursue a nursing degree thanks to scholarships from the Alabama Nursing Home Association (ANHA) Education Foundation.

The students are enrolled Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) programs at 12 Alabama community colleges and will receive scholarships for the 2015 summer semester.

The scholarships are $500.00 per student per semester and are offered for the spring, summer and fall semesters at community colleges that are part of the Alabama Community College System. Each college may select two students to receive the scholarship each semester.

  • Northwest Shoals Community College: Tiffany Berry and Crystal Hicks
  • Reid State Technical College: Pamela Powe and Kimberly Wilson
  • Shelton State Community College: Hang Knoll and Shondra Sullivan
  • Trenholm State Technical College: Diliah McElroy and Shiamber Waits
  • Wallace Community College: Ashley Bell and Brooke Singleton
  • Wallace Community College Selma: Amber Craig and Matthew Russell
  • Wallace State Community College: Jessica Basden and Kristy Kelly

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must complete the first semester of the LPN program, maintain a 2.5 GPA, be a resident of Alabama and take part in clinical training in a nursing home.

The ANHA Education Foundation established the LPN scholarship program in July 2008. Since its inception, over 600 scholarships have been awarded to deserving students.
