Hanceville1What is more contagious than a cough or sneeze?

What relaxes the whole body?

What promotes an overall sense of well being?

Give up? The answer is…laughter!

Hanceville Nursing & Rehab Center’s “Dr. Feel Good” program focuses on laughter combined with variety of healthy exercises and snacks to promote a healthier lifestyle for nursing home residents.

Staff members use “Laughter Yoga,” which is a twist on the ancient practice. The four basic steps of “Laughter Yoga” are clapping and chanting, laughter yoga breathing, uncomplicated playfulness and laughter yoga exercises. Yoga is shown to improve cardiovascular health while laughter triggers the release of endorphins to lighten a person’s mood.

Hanceville Nursing & Rehab Center will share its “Dr. Feel Good” program at Alabama’s Best Practices on August 28.
